OUR HISTORY
In the year 1988, Pastor Luis Fernández dismissed a young lady, Marisol Martínez, who was on her way to the city of New York City saying, “Go, because out of your house a new church will come forth”. Meanwhile in a state prison in Fishkill, New York, the Lord called to heaven Brother Salvador Sabino and there showed him a great multitude of people and said to him“Preach my Word”. Afterwards, on three other occasions, the Lord told Brother Sabino to work with Pastor Pablo Fernandez, the Apostle and Bishop of the Fountain of Salvation Christian Churches. When he was freed from prison, Pastors Pablo and Bernarda Ferández sent Brother Sabino to strentgthen the cell group that was in the house of the Martinez family, located at 975 Walton Ave. Apt. # 3C/S, Bronx, N.Y.
The home meetings grew in attendance as the brethren preached and teached Christ practically every day of the week. On Sundays, they would travel to the mother church in Jersey City, NJ to worship as a whole family with other brethren. As the saints praised and worshipped the Lord, they received a word from God that confirmed the birth of a new church. The Lord also spoke in the house meetings through prophetic dreams and visions to Brother Salvador Sabino, the cell group leader. He dreamed that the temple needed for the new church was one stop on the subway from where he lived, which was at 2685 Grand Concourse Ave.
On December 16th, 1990, the doors at Creston Avenue Baptist Church, exactly one stop away on the subway, meaning Fordham Rd, were opened. We established the first Fountain of Salvation Christian Church in the Bronx and lifted up a banner in the city of New York. The brethren were joyful for the marvelous work of the Lord and continued serving God by winning souls for Jesus Christ.
Three years later, on December 4th, 1993, through much rain and bad weather, a group of 120 local members accompanied by other representatives of Fountain of Salvation Christian Church of Jersey City and Elizabet, all marched towards their own temple, located on 2868 Jerome avenue, Bronx, NY, singing together in unison “God did not bring us to this place to take us back out again, He brought us here to possess the land He gave to us.”
On November 4th,, 1995, we celebrated the inauguration of what is called today temple of worship EL Shaddai in Brooklyn, NY, our first daughter church. In this same manner, around three years later, On January 1st, 1999, after much opposition, which we counter attacked with intercession, worship and consistent evangelism, the doors of Heavenly Vision Christian Center in Manhattan were opened.
We decided to reinforce the vision that God gave us because of a series of dreams, prophecies, and visions. At the close of the millennium the Lord directed us to a radical change within the whole ministry. It was to strengthen the cell group system and even change the name of our church just as the Lord ministered to the Apostle Paul; we were not disobedient to the heavenly vision. Acts 26:19 says: “Therefore King Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision” As the Lord ministered, we received to identify ourselves as the Heavenly Vision Christian Center.
A change of name is only a sign of a great call of God for the church. That same year we inaugurated a new church. On July 15th of 2000, we opened Heavenly Vision Christian Center of Long Island, which is led by Pastor Vincent and Monica Guzman.
The Lord has been with us. He strengthened us and helped us. We give Him all the glory.
Today, Heavenly Vision Christian Center has a membership of more than 1,200 members. It is a church of men and women full of the Holy Ghost, love, and faith, who have come to a common agreement to establish an ever-growing bilingual cell group church for the year 2012 composed of 12,000 members and 1,200 cells, each with 6 to 12 disciples, where all, in the unity of the Spirit, can give glory to God.
Brethren let us catch the vision and do something great for God! Let’s conquer New York for Christ!
